Dodgers activate Mookie Betts
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers activated infielder/outfielder Mookie Betts from the injured list and designated infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario for assignment.
Betts, 31, has been out with a fractured left hand since June 16. He appeared in 72 games prior to the injury, batting .304 with 10 homers and 40 RBI. The 2018 American League MVP has been with the Dodgers five seasons, slashing .285/.377/.532 with 123 homers and 433 runs scored in 533 games. In his Major League career the seven-time All-Star has amassed 262 homers and notched 796 RBI in 1,337 games. He was originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2011 First Year Player Draft out of Overton High School.
Rosario, 28, went 1-for-1 with a walk and an RBI yesterday against the Pirates. He played in five games with the Dodgers since being acquired on July 29 from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for minor league pitcher Michael Flynn. He went 3-for-11 with two RBI. On the season, he is batting .305 with two homers and 28 RBI in 81 games for the Rays and Dodgers. He is in his eighth Major League season with New York (2017-20), Cleveland (2021-23), Los Angeles (2023-24) and Tampa Bay (2024), hitting .275 with 62 homers and 362 RBI. He was signed as an international free agent by the Mets on July 2012.
