Hanigan, 35, has hit .186 (13-for-70) with three doubles and 10 RBI in 22 games with the Red Sox this season. Acquired from the San Diego Padres on December 19, 2014, the veteran backstop has made 71 starts for Boston, with the Red Sox going 41-30 in those games, including 14-6 in 20 starts this season. A native of Andover, Mass., Hanigan has appeared in 634 major league games over 10 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds (2007-13), Tampa Bay Rays (2014) and Red Sox, combining to hit .252 (460-for-1,823) with a .348 on-base percentage. Originally signed by Cincinnati as a non-drafted free agent in 2002, he has thrown out 111 of 336 attempted base stealers (33%) while posting a 3.70 catcher's ERA.
 
Swihart, 24, made his first career Opening Day roster in 2016 and has appeared in 19 games with the Red Sox, batting .258 (16-for-62) with three triples and a .365 on-base percentage. Each of his last 13 starts for Boston has been made in left field, where he has recorded one assist and no errors in 31 total chances. He has also hit .243 (25-for-103) with four doubles and a home run in 29 games with the PawSox, making 14 starts at catcher and 11 in left field. Selected by Boston in the first round of the 2011 June Draft, the switch-hitter has appeared in 103 major league games in two seasons (2015-16), hitting .271 (95-for-350) with 17 doubles, four triples, and five home runs.
 
Castillo, 28, begins his third major league stint of 2016. In two games with Boston this season, he is 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. He has also appeared in 38 International League games, posting a .245 average (36-for-147) with eight doubles, one home run, 13 RBI, and three stolen bases while appearing in center field (25 games), left field (eight games), and right field (six games). Originally signed by the Red Sox as an international free agent on August 23, 2014, the Cuba native has played 92 major league games over the last three seasons, batting .265 (83-for-313) with 42 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 35 RBI, and seven stolen bases.
 
Hembree, 27, returns to the Red Sox for his second stint in the majors this season. Over his 12 relief appearances for Boston this year, he has gone 2-0 with a 2.14 ERA (5 ER/21.0 IP) and 18 strikeouts. The right-hander was optioned to Pawtucket after the club's Memorial Day win against the Baltimore Orioles, but did not appear in any games for the PawSox. Overall, he has made four scoreless appearances (5.0 IP) for Pawtucket with two saves, no walks, and nine strikeouts, the last coming on April 16 at Buffalo. Acquired by Boston from the San Francisco Giants on July 26, 2014, Hembree, a native of South Carolina, is 4-0 with a 2.81 ERA (20 ER/64.0 IP) in 49 games-all in relief-between the Giants (2013) and Red Sox (2014-16).
 
Leon, 27, begins his first major league stint of 2016. In 36 games with the PawSox this season, the switch-hitting backstop has batted .243 (28-for-115) with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 13 RBI. He has made all 29 of his starts at catcher, throwing out 53 percent (9 of 17) of attempted base stealers. Leon made his Red Sox debut in 2015 after being acquired by the club from the Washington Nationals on March 30, catching four of Boston's 10 shutouts despite making only 33 starts. In 70 career major league games (59 starts) between the Nationals (2012-14) and Red Sox (2015), the Venezuela native has posted a 3.31 catcher's ERA while throwing out 15 of 34 (44%) potential base stealers.
 
Ramirez, 26, has appeared in 11 games over his five stints with the Red Sox this season. In those games, the right-hander has no record with a 6.55 ERA (8 ER/11.0 IP) and 11 strikeouts. He last appeared for Boston on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings with one strikeout. A California native, Ramirez will rejoin the PawSox where he has gone 0-3 with one save, a 2.77 ERA (4 ER/13.0 IP), and nine strikeouts in eight appearances. Dating back to May 10, each of his last five appearances for Pawtucket has been scoreless (7.1 IP). For his major league career, Ramirez, who was the Red Sox' fourth-round selection in the 2011 June Draft, has gone 0-1 with a 5.25 ERA (14 ER/24.0 IP) and 24 strikeouts in 28 games, all for Boston (2015-16).
