White Sox announce two roster moves

HOUSTON – Prior to tonight’s game at Houston, the Chicago White Sox announced the following two roster moves:

  • Returned from injury rehabilitation assignment and reinstated from the 60-day injured list (1): RHP Matt Foster;
  • Placed on the 60-day injured list (1): RHP Dominic Leone with a right UCL sprain (retroactive to August 15).

Foster, 29, has been on the injured list since the start of the 2024 season to continue his recovery from Tommy John surgery performed on April 19, 2023. Foster owns a 2.45 ERA (4 ER/14.2 IP) with 20 strikeouts in 14 rehab games with Class AAA Charlotte and the Arizona Complex League White Sox this season.

Foster last appeared in a major-league game on September 1, 2022 vs. Kansas City. He is 9-4 with a 4.39 ERA (55 ER/112.2 IP), two saves, nine holds and 113 strikeouts in 108 career games (two starts) over three seasons (2020-22) with Chicago.

Leone, who left Wednesday’s game vs. the Yankees in the seventh inning, is 0-2 with a 6.63 ERA (14 ER/19.0 IP) and 17 strikeouts over 23 relief appearances in 2024.

Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
