White Sox announce four roster moves
CHICAGO – Prior to today’s game vs. Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox announced the following four roster moves:
· Placed left-handed pitcher Aaron Bummer on the 10-day injured list with a left biceps strain;
· Designated right-hander Brady Lail for assignment;
· Recalled right-hander Zack Burdi from the Schaumburg training facility;
· Purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Drew Anderson from Schaumburg.
Burdi, 25, was selected by the White Sox in the first round (26th overall) of the 2016 draft out of the University of Louisville. The Downers Grove, Ill., native has gone 2-9 with a 4.31 ERA (48 ER/100.1 IP) and 139 strikeouts in 82 games (one start) over four minor-league seasons in the Sox system. Burdi, 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, has averaged 12.5 strikeouts per 9.0 IP over his career. He will uniform No. 62.
Anderson, 26, was signed by the White Sox as a free agent on November 12, 2019. He has gone 33-27 with a 3.52 ERA (190 ER/486.0 IP) and 417 strikeouts in 101 games (94 starts) over eight minor-league seasons, all in the Philadelphia organization. Anderson, 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, also has made nine appearances over parts of three seasons in the major leagues with the Phillies (2017-19), posting a 7.71 ERA (18 ER/21.0 IP). He will wear uniform No. 53.
Bummer, 26, is 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA (1 ER/7.1 IP), 12 strikeouts and three holds over seven appearances this season. He tied for sixth in the American League with 27 holds ian 2019.
Lail, 26, made one appearance with the Sox after his contract was purchased from Schaumburg on August 4.
Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
