White Sox announce highlights for 2025 Opening Series at Rate Field

Ceremonial First Pitch by Bulls Legend and 2010-11 NBA MVP Derrick Rose Scheduled for Home Opener on March 27; Family-Focused ‘Kids Opening Day’ Scheduled for March 30

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox today announced highlights scheduled for the club’s opening series vs. the Los Angeles Angels, held Thursday, March 27 through Sunday, March 30 at Rate Field. Single-game tickets are available for purchase now at whitesox.com/tickets.

The first 20,000 fans entering the ballpark for the team’s home opener on Thursday, March 27 at 3:10 p.m. will receive a 125th Anniversary Plush Blanket, presented by BMO. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats at least 45 minutes prior to first pitch for the following pregame celebrations:

  • Ceremonial first pitch by Chicago Bulls legend Derrick Rose, former Rookie of the Year, three-time All-Star, and 2010-11 National Basketball Association MVP;
  • Ford Drive Around introducing White Sox Manager Will Venable and players as they arrive on the field in Ford Broncos;
  • Flyover executed by the Illinois Army National Guard (Three UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopters).

The home opener also features a Sox Split guaranteed jackpot starting at $50,000, presented by Wintrust and benefiting Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC). New this season, fans will enjoy special early-bird pricing, available now, including opportunities to win select prizes when purchasing raffle tickets prior to the game’s first pitch. Sales will conclude at the end of the ninth inning of the home opener, and the winning ticket will be displayed online and on X at @soxcharities.

The White Sox will continue celebrations for the organization’s 125-year anniversary with its first fan giveaway recognizing storied decades from the club’s history, a 1907 Replica Jersey, presented by RUSH, on Saturday, March 29 at 1:10 p.m. (first 15,000 fans who enter the ballpark). Ahead of the game, fans will enjoy a ceremonial first pitch by acclaimed country music artist Cooper Alan.

The series-ending matchup on Sunday, March 30 at 1:10 p.m. includes specific family-friendly activities for Coca-Cola Family Sunday and Kids Opening Day, with special programming around the ballpark geared toward children and parents alike. In addition to inviting a group of lucky young fans for pregame experiences, such as the lineup card exchange, game ball delivery, “play ball” announcement and ceremonial first pitch, several elements of the gameday experience will offer families interactive, youthful fun.

Programming and activities include:

  • A pregame Kids Parade on the ballpark’s warning track;
  • An exclusive, registration-only kids press conference, open to Kids Club members, presented by Physicians Immediate Care, with select White Sox player attendees;
  • In-game videoboard features, including a dance cam and player headshots illustrated by students from the nearby Minnie Miñoso Academy;
  • T-Shirt design stations on the outfield concourse, where kids can color, design and creatively customize their own Sox-branded apparel.

Additionally, all Coca-Cola Family Sundays offer specially priced tickets and a postgame Kids Run the Bases promotion during the 2025 season. The gameday experience features balloon artists, face painters, kid-friendly activities alongside White Sox mascot Southpaw and a Junior PA Announcer program, presented by Toyota, giving select young fans an opportunity to announce their favorite Sox players as they step up to the plate.
