GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Chicago White Sox have acquired outfielder Adam Haseley from Philadelphia in exchange for right-handed pitcher McKinley Moore. To make room for Haseley on the 40-man roster, the White Sox designated outfielder Blake Rutherford for assignment.

Haseley, 25, is a .264/.322/.373 (85-322) hitter with 20 doubles, five home runs, 39 RBI and 39 runs scored in 116 games over parts of three major-league seasons, all with the Phillies. He has appeared in 72 games in center field, 35 in left and 19 in right.

Haseley, 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, was Philadelphia’s Opening Day center fielder in 2021, appearing in nine games. He spent the remainder of the season in the minor leagues, including 41 games with Class AAA Lehigh Valley.

As a rookie in 2019, Haseley led all Phillies outfielders with 13 defensive runs saved despite making just 59 starts. He was selected by the Phillies in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2017 draft out of the University of Virginia.

Moore, 23, has gone 4-3 with a 4.43 ERA (31 ER/63.0 IP) in 59 relief appearances over two seasons in the White Sox minor-league system (2019, ’21). He originally was selected by the Sox in the 14th round of the 2019 draft out of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Rutherford, 24, is a career .272/.325/.401 (5-2-1,843) hitter with 105 doubles, 30 home runs and 228 RBI in 482 games over five minor-league seasons (2016-19, ’21). He was acquired from the Yankees on July 17, 2017 as part of a seven-player deal.

With the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
