What’s Happening This Weekend: Phillies vs. Mets, September 13-15

Gates open two hours before first pitch on Saturday and Sunday! The hunt for Red October continues! Cheer on the Phils as they take on the division rival New York Mets, Friday, September 13, to Sunday, September 15, at Citizens Bank Park. Here’s a look at some of the fan highlights surrounding the final games of the homestand:

1. The 6:40 p.m. game on September 13 is the final Lights Up // Friday Night at the Bank of the regular season and will feature players wearing City Connect uniforms.

  • Jose Diaz-Delcid, a student at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, will throw a ceremonial first pitch in honor of Deaf Awareness Night.
  • Soprano Michelle DeCoste, who recently performed the role of Mimí in Puccini's opera La Bohème in New York, will sing the national anthem.
  • Pregame, WM Area Fleet Director Jim Pryor will present a $10,000 donation to Phillies Charities, Inc.
  • Help new moms at the Temple Health Community Baby Shower! Temple Health will be on site encouraging fans to text “babyowl” to 44834 with donations to be used on needed items for new moms, with suggested gift amounts to include $5 for a sleep sack, $25 for a travel bassinet, $75 for a pack ’n play, or $100 for a car seat. Efforts will benefit new moms at Temple Health’s Women & Families campus.
  • Fans, age 21 and over: stop by the Miller Lite Friday Happy Hour at Miller Lite Liberty Landing offering specials until the first pitch.

2. Arrive early to enjoy all the ballpark fun before the 4:05 p.m. game on Saturday, September 14. Plus, Phillies Executive Vice President Dave Buck will be presented with the Richie Ashburn & David Montgomery Special Achievement Award.

  • Before the game, Buck will be presented with the team’s Special Achievement Award, given annually to a front office employee who demonstrates the same loyalty, dedication and passion for Phillies baseball as the award’s namesakes. Presenting the award will be Susa McFall, daughter of former team president and Phillies Wall of Famer David Montgomery, and John Ashburn, son of former Hall of Famer Richie Ashburn.
  • The Phillies will also recognize local youth softball and baseball champions of MLB’s Pitch, Hit & Run, taking place earlier that morning at the ballpark.
  • Zack Gibbons, a rescue swimmer who recently returned home from a nine-month deployment in the Red Sea, will change third base at the end of the 3rd inning as that night’s Rothman Hometown Hero.

3. On Sunday, September 15, the Phillies will join MLB in celebrating Roberto Clemente Day at the 1:35 p.m. game. Plus, it’s GIANT Family Day; all children 14 and under will receive a GIANT Phanatic Lunch Bag.

  • For the second consecutive year, All-Star and founder of Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes Kyle Schwarber will be honored by Phillies Charities, Inc. president John Weber as the team’s nominee for MLB’s Roberto Clemente Award, with voting underway here. In honor of the day, there will also be special base jewels and lineup cards, with players wearing No. 21 patches in honor of the late Roberto Clemente.
  • From 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., head to Citizens Bank Way for the GIANT Family Block Party featuring complimentary facepainting, balloon artists, a dunk tank, inflatable speed pitch station, yard games, a Phillies alumni photo booth, music from DJ HBK, the Phillies Ballgirls and an appearance by the Phillie Phanatic! Plus, stations and tastings from Phillies partners including Big Mozz, Franklin Institute, Herr’s, PA Farms to Families Immersion Lab, Philabundance, Philadelphia Water Ice, Philadelphia Zoo, Tastykake and Temple Health.
  • Philadelphia 76ers rookie guard Jared McCain will throw a ceremonial first pitch.
  • Cathy Domizio, co-founder of Honor Flight Philadelphia, will change third base at the end of the 3rd inning as she is honored as a Rothman Hometown Hero.

4. Place your bids on the final Phillies Charities, Inc. Online Auction of the regular season, featuring team-issued and game-used autographed memorabilia, on phillies.com/auctions until September 30 at 6:00 p.m.

5. Fans at the New Era Phillies Team Store can get an extra 25% off clearance items (75% off original price)! This Fan Appreciation special begins Friday, September 13, and lasts through the end of September.

  • Gate Openings: 5:10 p.m. on Friday, 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, and 11:35 a.m. on Sunday.
  • NEW Phillies Live Audio: Fans at Citizens Bank Park can enjoy the Phillies 94 WIP radio broadcast in real time. Using the MLB Ballpark app, navigate to the “Phillies Live Audio” tile and follow the instructions.

  • Bag Policy: In an effort to expedite entry, guests are prohibited from bringing non-clear bags, including backpacks and drawstring bags, into the ballpark. Only clutch purses and/or fanny packs (no larger than 5" x 7"), clear bags (no larger than 12" x 6" x 12"), medical bags and diaper bags will be permitted into Citizens Bank Park. All bags will be subject to inspection upon entry in accordance with Major League Baseball security regulations.
  • Uber RideShare Lot: Lot T is designated for Uber RideShare for all Citizens Bank Park and Wells Fargo Center events. Fans should exit the Third Base Gate and walk along Pattison Avenue toward Broad Street to enter the lot and request a vehicle, which will meet each rider in the designated area.
