Washington Nationals Recall Trey Lipscomb

The Washington Nationals recalled infielder Trey Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester and optioned shortstop CJ Abrams to Triple-A Rochester on Saturday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Lipscomb, 24, hit .283 with 14 doubles, four homers, 35 RBI, 22 walks, eight stolen bases and 31 runs scored in 65 games for Triple-A Rochester this season. He joins the Nationals after going 6-for-17 (.353) with four RBI and two runs scored over his last four games with the Red Wings.

This marks the fifth Major League stint of Lipscomb’s rookie campaign. He has appeared at third base (53 G/51 GS), first base (4 G/2 GS) and second base (2 G/2 GS) and has hit .207 with three doubles, a homer, 10 RBI, 16 walks, 11 stolen bases and 20 runs scored along the way.

Abrams, 23, hit .246 with 29 doubles, six triples, 20 home runs, 65 RBI, 40 walks, 31 stolen bases and 79 runs scored in 138 games for Washington.
