MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have reinstated centerfielder Byron Buxton from the 10-day Injured List.

Buxton, who has missed the Twins’ last 28 games with right hip inflammation, has been taking live batting practice at Target Field this week. Prior to landing on the IL, the 30-year-old played in 90 games for the Twins this season, hitting .275 (84-for-305) with 23 doubles, three triples, 16 home runs, 49 RBI, 54 runs scored and an .862 OPS; this includes 82 games (75 starts) in centerfield, his most since 2019 (86 games, 76 starts). In his last 43 games leading up to the IL stint, Buxton hit .331 (49-for-148) with a .394 on-base percentage, a .709 slugging percentage and a 1.103 OPS.

To make room on the 28-man roster, the Twins optioned utility player Austin Martin to Triple-A St. Paul after last night’s game against the Los Angeles Angels. Martin played in 89 games over three separate stints for the Twins this season, hitting .252 (55-for-218) with 16 doubles, one triple, one home run, 16 RBI, 41 runs scored and seven stolen bases.
