Twins place Jorge Alcala on 10-day injured list
Griffin Jax recalled from Triple-A St. Paul
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Jorge Alcala on the 10-day Injured List (retroactive to April 11) with right elbow inflammation.
Alcala appeared in two games against the Mariners over the weekend, pitching 2.1 scoreless innings of relief with two hits allowed, two walks and two strikeouts, throwing 40 total pitches.
To replace Alcala on the 28-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Griffin Jax from Triple-A St. Paul. Jax, who had yet to appear for the Saints, was optioned from Twins spring training to St. Paul on April 7. He pitched in three games for the Twins in spring training, going 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA (4.2 IP, 7 ER), two walks and five strikeouts. The 27-year-old pitched in 18 games (14 starts) for the Twins in 2021, going 4-5 with a 6.37 ERA (82.0 IP, 58 ER), 29 walks and 65 strikeouts.
