Twins host Fourth Annual Diversity Week

Several programs scheduled to celebrate the inclusivity of Twins Territory, Presented by Prairie Island Indian Community and Treasure Island Resort & Casino

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – As a part of the team’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, the Minnesota Twins organization will be hosting their fourth annual Diversity Week, presented by Prairie Island Indian Community and Treasure Island Resort & Casino, from Monday, August 19 through Saturday, August 24. Members of the Twins front office, along with clubhouse personnel and their families, will take part in various programs directed at celebrating the inclusivity of Twins Territory, where everyone is welcome.

Monday, August 19 – Twins vs. Chicago White Sox (7:10 p.m.)

JOSÉ BERRÍOS PITCHING CLINIC

Location: Target Field

Time: 11:00 a.m.

Twins pitcher José Berríos will host a pitching clinic for youth baseball players from St. Paul. José will share pitching tips and lessons from his experience as a two-time American League All-Star to help the players develop their skills. After the clinic, José will host the participants for a special lunch at Fogo de Chão in Minneapolis.

Tuesday, August 20 – Twins vs. Chicago White Sox (7:10 p.m.)

MINNESOTA TWINS DIVERSITY DAY Presented by Prairie Island Indian Community and Treasure Island Resort & Casino

Location: Target Field

Fans are encouraged to arrive early to Tuesday night’s game to help the Minnesota Twins celebrate diversity and inclusion throughout Twins Territory. The day will feature a pregame parade around the field, as well as multicultural performances, music, and additional celebratory elements throughout the game. The first 10,000 fans through the gates will receive a special, commemorative t-shirt (Youth L, Adult M/XL) courtesy of Prairie Island Indian Community and Treasure Island Resort & Casino.

Saturday, August 24 – Twins vs. Detroit Tigers (6:10 p.m.)

Location: Target Field

Time: 9:00 a.m.

This event is all about women in baseball! Hosted by Minnesota Twins coaches and personnel, all attendees will take part in a baseball skills clinic for either “Rookie” or “Veteran” skill levels. Participants will experience what it’s like to play baseball at Target Field, while learning from women sports professionals in specialties such as scouting, analytics, nutrition and more! Tickets, which include the clinic, a buffet lunch at Target Field, the Women in Sports panel, an exclusive t-shirt and two (2) tickets to a 2019 Twins game, can be purchased here (net proceeds benefit the Minnesota Twins Community Fund).

Saturday, August 24 – Twins vs. Detroit Tigers (6:10 p.m.)

MINNESOTA TWINS BASEBALL CLINIC

Location: Neiman Sports Complex (Bloomington Rd., St. Paul)

Time: 9:00 am – 11:30 am

The Minnesota Twins believe that baseball is for everyone and that everyone should have access to play ball. The Twins will host a free baseball clinic on Saturday, August 24 for children ages 8-12, focused on the principle of learning is fun. Additionally, participants will receive a gift bag from the Twins Wives Organization. No advanced registration is required, but the event is capped at 150 participants. A signed waiver must be completed upon arrival.

TWINS WIVES BACKPACK DONATION

As part of the club’s Diversity Week celebration, the Twins Wives Organization has provided 200 backpacks filled with school supplies to local students served through The Sheridan Story. A Twin Cities-based nonprofit with a vision of “Every child. Every meal.™”, The Sheridan Story works to combat hunger in our community by filling the gaps to food access that children face: primarily weekends and summers.
