Royals claim Randy Rosario off waivers from Chicago Cubs

KANSAS CITY, MO (September 12, 2019) – The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has claimed left-handed pitcher Randy Rosario off outright waivers from the Chicago Cubs. He will report to the Major League club. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club has recalled infielder Kelvin Gutierrez and placed him on the 60-day Injured List with a right toe fracture.
Rosario, 25, made 13 relief appearances with the Cubs this season, going 1-0 with a 5.91 ERA (7 ER in 10.2 IP) through three big league stints. He was also 1-2 with four saves and a 3.11 ERA (13 ER in 37.2 IP) in 31 outings with Iowa (AAA) this season. He was designated for assignment by Chicago on Monday.
