Red Sox acquire right-handed pitcher Tayler Scott from Los Angeles Dodgers
Boston Transfers Right-Handed Pitcher John Schreiber to 60-Day Injured List
BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today acquired right-handed pitcher Tayler Scott from the Los Angeles Dodgers, in exchange for cash considerations. To make room for Scott on the 40-man roster, the club transferred right-handed pitcher John Schreiber to the 60-Day Injured List.

Scott, 31, has pitched in six games for the Dodgers this season, allowing six runs in 6.0 innings. The right-hander has also posted a 1.37 ERA (3 ER/19.2 IP) with 25 strikeouts in 19 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Selected by the Chicago Cubs in the fifth round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, the Johannesburg native has posted a 10.75 ERA (41 ER/34.1 IP) in 27 career Major League games (two starts) with the Seattle Mariners (2019), Baltimore Orioles (2019), San Diego Padres (2022), and Dodgers (2023). In addition, Scott pitched for Nippon Professional Baseball’s Hiroshima Carp from 2020-21. He is the only pitcher in Major League Baseball history born in South Africa.
Schreiber, 29, was placed on the 15-Day Injured List on May 16 with a right teres major strain. The right-hander has posted a 2.12 ERA (4 ER/17.0 IP) with 21 strikeouts in 18 appearances this season. Claimed off waivers by Boston from the Detroit Tigers on February 18, 2021, Schreiber owns a 3.25 ERA (41 ER/113.2 IP) in 111 career outings with the Tigers (2019-20) and Red Sox (2021-23).
