He entered today’s slate ranked among American League leaders in home runs (T7th), baseball-reference WAR (8th, 5.0), OPS (10th), batting average (12th), and total bases (12th, 243), as his 30 home runs are T2nd-most among primary MLB shortstops to Baltimore’s Gunnar Henderson (34).

The two-time World Series Most Valuable Player Award-winner (2023, 2020) connected for his 200th career home run on Thursday at Chicago-AL, becoming the 15th primary shortstop in MLB history (min. 50% of games played at shortstop) to hit at least 200 career home runs (credit Stathead).

Seager was selected as the Rangers’ Player of the Month for August after batting .282 (29-103) with 11 home runs and 24 RBI across 25 contests last month, matching the highest single-month home run total of his career (also 11 HR in May 2024). It marked the third time he has been selected as winner of the club’s Player of the Month award this season (also May/July), making him the fourth player to earn the honor at least three times in a single campaign since its inception in 1998: Corey Seager (3x, 2024), Adrian Beltré (3x, 2013), Alex Rodriguez (5x, 2002), Rafael Palmeiro (3x, 1999).

The five-time All-Star selection (2016-17, 2022-24) has compiled a .280/.350/.524/.875 (433-1545) slash line, 96 home runs, 87 doubles, and 253 RBI over 393 games spanning three seasons with the Rangers (2022-24). His 96 homers are the third-most in club history (beg. 1972) for a primary shortstop, trailing only Michael Young (177) and Rodriguez (156).
