Rangers game against Yankees on Friday night (Aug. 9, 2024) postponed

New York — The Texas Rangers’ scheduled game on Friday night against the Yankees in New York has been postponed due to the forecast of sustained inclement weather. The game is scheduled to be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader on Saturday, August 10, beginning at 12:05 p.m. CT.

Both games in Saturday’s doubleheader will be televised by Bally Sports Southwest with radio broadcasts on 105.3 The FAN. Only tickets dated Saturday, August 10 will be valid for tomorrow’s doubleheader.

This is the first rainout for the Rangers since June 6, 2022 at Cleveland. Tomorrow will mark the Rangers’ first doubleheader since October 4, 2022 vs. New York-AL at Globe Life Field. The Yankees’ Aaron Judge hit his American League-record 62nd home run in Game 2 of that doubleheader. The Rangers’ last road doubleheader was on September 12, 2022 at Miami.

The Rangers endured back-to-back rainouts against the Yankees on May 6-7, 2022 at New York-AL. The doubleheader against the Yankees on May 8, 2022 was the Rangers’ first twinbill in the Bronx since August 17, 1993 at the original Yankee Stadium.

Since dropping a pair of games against the Yankees in a doubleheader on May 3, 2007 at Globe Life Park in Arlington, the Rangers are 7-3-14 in its last 24 overall twinbills (day/night or split).
