Pirates delay general ticket on-sale
Pirates continue to work with state and local officials to safely accommodate as many fans as possible
The Pirates today announced the delay of the expected general ticket on-sale planned for tomorrow, Wednesday, March 17. The decision was made due to yesterday’s announcement by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf in the easing of restrictions for outdoor venues throughout Pa., including PNC Park.
Due to this announcement, the Pirates determined it best to delay the public on-sale for a brief time with the hopes of opening up more seating areas to fans. The delay will also minimize the impact of having to potentially relocate ticket buyers after tickets had been sold.
The Club, which was expecting to place all remaining tickets on-sale tomorrow for the first 12-home games of the season, will continue to work with Governor Wolf, county and local officials in the coming days to finalize plans to safely accommodate as many fans as possible at the ballpark.
“The recent announcement by Governor Tom Wolf regarding the updated capacity limits is an encouraging step in bringing even more fans back to PNC Park,” said Pirates President Travis Williams. “We are continuing our capacity planning discussions with Governor Wolf, state and local officials, as well as our medical expert partners at Highmark and AHN. We expect to announce those plans in the coming days. We appreciate the support and patience of our fans as we work through this together.”
