Prior to tonight’s game against the San Diego Padres, the Phillies recalled infielder Drew Ellis from triple-A Lehigh Valley and outfielder Johan Rojas from double-A Reading.  Additionally, outfielder Cristian Pache was placed on the 10-day injured list with right elbow irritation (retroactive to July 11).  As previously announced on July 12, infielder Josh Harrison was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist contusion (retroactive to July 9).

Phillies President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski made the announcements.

Ellis, 27, has appeared in eight games for the Phillies this season and has posted a .919 OPS with two home runs and four walks in 22 plate appearances.  In 41 combined minor league games between Reading and Lehigh Valley, Ellis is slashing .242/.363/.543 with a .905 OPS.  He was signed by the Phillies as a minor league free agent on April 12, 2023 and was originally selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft.

Rojas, 22, has played 76 games for Reading this year and is slashing .306/.361/.484 with 30 stolen bases, 34 extra-base hits (20 2B, 5 3B, 9 HR), 56 runs scored and 24 walks.  He currently leads the Eastern League in hits (98), triples and runs and ranks tied for second in steals, third in extra-base hits and total bases and sixth in average.  Rojas, the No. 6 overall prospect in Philadelphia’s minor league system according to MLB.com, was originally signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on Jan. 18, 2018.  Born in San Francisco de Macorís, DR, Rojas will wear No. 18.

Pache, 24, is slashing .327/.365/.592 with a .957 OPS in 32 games for the Phillies this season.  Last Friday night in Miami, he slugged a game-winning, two-out, pinch-hit home run in the top of the ninth inning.  Pache currently leads the Phillies with five defensive runs saved between left field (3 DRS) and center field (2 DRS).  The Dominican Republic native was acquired from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for right-handed pitcher Billy Sullivan on March 29.
