Phillies and The GIANT Company announce ‘Summer of Giving’ charitable events throughout the Delaware Valley

Bringing Phillies fun to organizations making a difference in the community

The Phillies and The GIANT Company are teaming up to host their annual Summer of Giving, featuring a dozen charitable events being held throughout Delaware Valley, all aimed at giving back to organizations making a difference in the community.

Among the special guests taking part will be 1993 National League champions Milt Thompson and Mickey Morandini, 2008 World Series champion Dickie Noles, the Phillie Phanatic, Phillies Ballgirls and Phillies Ambassador Scott Palmer, among others.

Participating charitable groups include the Jefferson Moss Magee Rehabilitation Center – Center City, MANNA, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Peter’s Place, Project HOME, Temple Health and more, many of which are Phillies Charities, Inc. grant recipients.

Phillies Summer of Giving presented by The GIANT Company

  • Tuesday, June 25: Phillies Give Back at Ronald McDonald House Charities, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
    Phillies Give Back is a monthly employee volunteer program where members of the Phillies family go out into the Philadelphia community to volunteer with different non-profits. The Phillies will be partnering with the Ronald McDonald House Charities to serve dinner to those families residing at the house as part of the Ronald McDonald House Charities 50th Anniversary Celebration.
  • Wednesday, June 26: Phillies Ballgirls Watch Party, The Yard at Citizens Bank Park, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.
    The Phillies and Phillies Ballgirls are hosting a game watch party at the Yard for children and families involved in local non-profits as well as the Phillies Nike RBI and UYA programs. Games will include wiffle ball, rock climbing, hot dog launching and more. Guests will also be treated to tours of the ballpark, as well as the opportunity to watch the Phillies take on the Detroit Tigers on the Yard’s PhanaVision screen.
  • Friday, June 28: Mickey Morandini’s Corn Hole Classic, Third Base Plaza, Citizens Bank Park, 5:35 p.m. – 6:40 p.m.
    Take on Morandini, Noles and Thompson in a game of cornhole for a $5 minimum donation to Phillies Charities before that night’s 6:40 p.m. game against the Miami Marlins. Each participant gets challenged to three throws of cornhole. Beat the ambassador and win a prize!
  • Thursday, July 11: Phillies Pep Rally, Jefferson Moss Magee Rehabilitation Center – Center City, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
    The team will hold a lunchtime pep rally for patients and staff, complete with giveaways, Phillies Ballgirls, the Phillie Phanatic and more!
  • Sunday, July 14: Phillies Charities Summer Sale, First Base Plaza, Citizens Bank Park, 12:05 p.m. – 6th inning
    Fans coming to that day’s 1:05 p.m. game against the Miami Marlins can stop by the First Base Plaza to purchase hundreds of items signed by players such as Bryson Stott, Rhys Hoskins, Jay Bruce and more, all to benefit Phillies Charities, Inc.
  • Monday, July 22: Philadelphia Sports Girls Initiative, Subaru Park, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
    Philadelphia’s six professional sports teams (76ers, Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, Union, Wings) will join forces to host a one-day event for girls 8-12 years old at Subaru Park. The goal is to introduce young girls to six different sports through professional team presence and provide them with information about how to stay involved with these sports in their community following the event. Girls will take part in a six-station clinic that will teach them the fundamentals of each sport.
  • Tuesday, July 23: Phillies Give Back at MANNA, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
    The Phillies family will make a special visit that morning to MANNA, where they will work on supervised tasks that MANNA chefs assign such as chopping vegetables, packing meals, filling meal trays, making sandwiches, baking and additional tasks.
  • Wednesday, July 24: Phillies Picnic at Peter’s Place, 12:30 p.m.
    The Phillies Ambassadors – Morandini, Thompson and Noles – along with the Phillies Ballgirls, will treat the families at Peter’s Place in King of Prussia to a special picnic, where they can enjoy an afternoon of food, baseball and softball stations and plenty of Phillies fun. Peter’s Place is a center for grieving children and families.
  • Thursday, July 25: Project HOME BINGO Night, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
    The Phillies are joining Project HOME to host a special Phillies-themed BINGO party for those affiliated with this Philadelphia non-profit, which offers permanent, subsidized housing for individuals and families who have been homeless. Attendees will receive special Phillies giveaways, as well as GIANT gift cards for all BINGO winners! The event will be hosted by Scott Palmer, with special guest BINGO helpers Morandini and the Phillie Phanatic.
  • Friday, July 26: Annual Phillies Ballgirls Christmas in July Toy Drive, Citizens Bank Park, 5:35 p.m. – 3rd inning
    The Phillies Ballgirls will collect new and unwrapped toys at the entrance gates during that night’s 6:40 p.m. game against the Cleveland Guardians to benefit local organizations dedicated to improving the lives of children.
  • Wednesday, July 31: Phillies On-Deck Series, 9:00 a.m.
    This new initiative will allow female members of the Phillies Nike RBI and Phillies Urban Youth Academy Softball programs a chance to experience working in baseball firsthand. Select applicants will spend Thursday, July 31, at the ballpark shadowing a current female Phillies employee learning what a day in the life of a fulltime employee looks like. The day will also include a welcome breakfast with a panel discussion including female vice presidents from the Phillies, lunch in the press club and a ballpark tour.
