Padres to Host Celebration of Life for Peter Seidler
Team Will Also Wear “PS” Jersey Patch to Honor Seidler During 2024 Season
SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres today announced plans to honor their beloved former Chairman and Owner, Peter Seidler, with a celebration of life ceremony at Petco Park on Saturday, March 23 at 1:00 p.m. PT. The team will also wear a “PS” jersey patch in Seidler’s memory during the entirety of the 2024 regular season.
Current and former Padres, team and league executives, local dignitaries, family members and special guest speakers will be in attendance for the celebration of life with Padres broadcaster Don Orsillo serving as Master of Ceremonies. Admission is free, with fans required to claim digital tickets beginning Thursday, February 29th. Gates will open at 12:00 p.m. for all those attending. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is free of charge and will be available in neighboring Padres-controlled lots, including the Lexus Premier Lot, Tailgate Lot and Padres Parkade. Please visit www.padres.com/Events for additional details and the most up-to-date information.
The jersey patch design idea, with Peter’s initials inside a heart, came from Seidler’s children and will be worn by the Padres over their hearts this season on each of their uniform combinations. Variations of the jersey patch can be viewed and downloaded here.
The first 10,000 fans at the celebration of life will receive a complimentary jersey patch, and the patch will be available for sale at the Padres Team Store at Petco Park this season with the net proceeds benefiting the Padres Foundation. Funds raised will be used to support the newly formed Peter Seidler Legacy Projects, which will include significant impact grants in the greater San Diego community and northern Baja.
