San Diego Padres and Delaware North agree to terms on 10-year contract extension
SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres and Delaware North Sportservice have agreed to terms on a 10-year contract extension through the 2036 season, Padres CEO Erik Greupner announced today.
As part of the agreement, Delaware North – which has operated concessions, premium dining and retail services at Petco Park since its inaugural season in 2004 – will make a number of capital improvements to its operations and fan amenities at the ballpark.
“We are excited to continue our strong partnership with Delaware North,” Greupner said. “For nearly 20 years, we have partnered at Petco Park to build one of the best gameday food, beverage, and retail experiences in professional sports. We look forward to continuing our innovative partnership and pursuit of excellence in the 2023 season and beyond.”
Among its accolades, Petco Park in 2022 was named “Best MLB Ballpark” by USA Today based on factors such as atmosphere, location and food. The Padres and Delaware North attribute the success to consistent year-over-year investment and a keen focus on partnering with local purveyors and brands to offer a wide variety of San Diego products.
“We are incredibly proud of the hyperlocal food and beverage program and retail operations we have built with the San Diego Padres,” said Jamie Obletz, president of Delaware North Sportservice. “Petco Park is widely recognized by fans and media for being among the premier venues in the league, and we look forward to continuing to do our part in creating a distinctive gameday experience that reflects the best of San Diego and Padres fans.”
Delaware North operates food, beverage and retail operations at more than 50 sports and entertainment venues, including the company-owned TD Garden in Boston and an international division that includes Wembley Stadium in London and Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. The company has been serving MLB fans since 1930 and currently provides hospitality services at 10 MLB ballparks.
