Orioles announce 2023 regular season schedule
Opening Day is March 30 at the Red Sox, Home Opener slated for April 6 vs. the Yankees
The Orioles today announced the 2023 regular season schedule, which will open in Boston on Thursday, March 30. After three games with the Red Sox, Baltimore continues its opening road trip with a three-game set at the Texas Rangers from April 3-5. Baltimore welcomes the New York Yankees to Oriole Park for the Home Opener on Thursday, April 6. The opening homestand of the season features three games against the Yankees before a four-game set with the Oakland Athletics from April 10-13.
ALL ABOUT BALANCE: Major League Baseball’s new balanced schedule will see all 30 teams play each other for at least one series during the season. Every team in MLB will play fewer divisional games to account for those games. Teams will play divisional opponents for two series at home and two series on the road.
**DIVISION RIVALS: **The Orioles will play AL East divisional opponents 13 times with the new schedule format. Baltimore plays the Red Sox and Rays for seven games and the Yankees and Blue Jays for six games at Oriole Park.
WEEKEND WARRIORS: Baltimore hosts 13 weekend series, including four against American League East foes the Yankees (April 6-9 and July 28-30), Rays (September 14-17), and Red Sox (September 28-October 1).
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE: The 2023 home schedule features three games played on holidays, including Easter Sunday (April 9 vs. Yankees), Mother’s Day (May 14 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates), and Memorial Day (May 29 vs. Cleveland Guardians).
INTERLEAGUE OPPONENTS: The Orioles face all 15 teams from the National League in 2023. Baltimore hosts the Cincinnati Reds (June 26-28) for the first time since 2014, Colorado Rockies (August 25-27) for the first time since 2016, St. Louis Cardinals (September 11-13) for the first time since 2017, Los Angeles Dodgers (July 17-19) for the first time since 2019, and Miami Marlins (July 14-16) and New York Mets (August 4-6) for the first time since 2021. NL road trips include stops against the San Francisco Giants (June 2-4) for the first time since 2016, Milwaukee Brewers (June 6-8) for the first time since 2017, Atlanta Braves (May 5-7) for the first time since 2018, Arizona Diamondbacks (September 1-3) and San Diego Padres (August 14-16) for the first time since 2019, and Philadelphia Phillies (July 24-26) for the first time since 2021.
PACK YOUR BAGS: Baltimore will have two 10-day, nine-game road trips. The Orioles travel to Seattle, San Diego, and Oakland from August 11-20, then Arizona, Los Angeles-AL, and Boston from September 1-10.
MONTHLY BREAKDOWN: The Orioles will play their fewest home games during the month of July (11). May will feature the busiest month at Oriole Park with 16 home dates. Baltimore will host 15 games in August and 13 games in April, June, and September/October. Baltimore finishes the 2023 regular season with a six-game homestand against the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox from September 26 to October 1.
