Orioles acquire Colin Selby from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for cash considerations
The Orioles today announced that they have acquired right-handed pitcher COLIN SELBY from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for cash considerations. He has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk.
Selby, 26, pitched to a 6.00 ERA (2 ER/3.0 IP) in two relief appearances with the Royals this season after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 7. In 20 Triple-A games between Indianapolis (PIT) and Omaha (KC), he went 2-2 with a 5.32 ERA (13 ER/22.0 IP), 14 total runs, 17 hits, three home runs, 11 walks, 28 strikeouts, and two hit batters. He was designated for assignment by the Royals on July 6.
A native of Chesapeake, Va., Selby was originally selected by the Pirates in the 16th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Randolph-Macon College (VA). He made his Major League debut on August 9, 2023, and has appeared in 23 MLB games between the Pirates and Royals.
To make room on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher KYLE BRADISH (right elbow UCL surgery) has been transferred to the 60-day Injured List. The Orioles’ 40-man roster currently has 40 players.
