Minnesota Twins Homestand Highlights: Monday, August 9–Wednesday, August 18

Twins play a pair of American League Central division rivals, welcome back Nelson Cruz and host a 30th anniversary celebration of the 1991 World Series Champions during this season-long nine-game homestand

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins are returning to Target Field for a season-long nine-game homestand that runs from tonight (Monday, August 9) through Wednesday, August 18. The homestand is bookended by a pair of series against American League Central division rivals (the Chicago White Sox from tonight-Wednesday and the Cleveland Indians from August 16-18), while also featuring the Target Field return of Nelson Cruz with the Tampa Bay Rays (Friday-Sunday). The Twins will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic 1991 World Series Champions this weekend, highlighted by a special on-field ceremony prior to the Saturday, August 14 game vs. the Rays.

Target Field is open to 100 percent capacity, without restrictions (please note that fans are strongly encouraged, but not required, to wear face coverings in indoor spaces of the ballpark, except when actively eating or drinking). Tonight (Monday, August 9) vs. Chicago White Sox presented by Prairie Island Indian Community (7:10 p.m.)

  • Native American Heritage Celebration presented by Prairie Island Indian Community: The Twins’ annual Native American Heritage Celebration will include festivities honoring the Mdewakanton of Prairie Island, including:
  • Pregame performances by singers and drummers from the Prairie Island Indian Community, first at 5:45 p.m. near the Schneiderman’s Lawn area at Gate 34, and then on the field during pregame ceremonies.
  • The Ceremonial First Pitch will be thrown by Deso Buck, a member of the Prairie Island Indian Community and a multi-sport athlete at Red Wing High School.
  • Giveaway – Native American Heritage Celebration T-Shirt presented by Prairie Island Indian Community: The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive special, commemorative Twins Native American Heritage Celebration t-shirt, presented by Prairie Island Indian Community (sizes are adult M and XL). 
  • The Players Alliance “Gear for Good” Tour: The Twins are hosting the latest stop on The Players Alliance “Gear for Good” Tour. In partnership with the Heritage Youth Sports Foundation, the Twins will welcome 25 young people who will watch batting practice, and have a meet and greet with front office staff to learn more about career opportunities in sports, both on and off the field.   • Honoring the “Minnesota Rolling Twins”: Players and coaches from the Minnesota Rolling Twins – a longtime partnership with the Twins and Allina Health’s Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute – will be recognized with a good luck “sendoff” prior to the National Wheelchair Softball World Series that will be held later this week in Biloxi, Mississippi.
