Minnesota Twins Homestand Highlights: August 4-6
Twins return to Target Field for three-game stay against Arizona; Twins Hall of Fame Weekend highlights quick homestand
MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The first-place Minnesota Twins return to Target Field tonight for their ninth homestand of the season, a three-game weekend stay against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who are slated to visit Target Field for the first time since August 2017.

TWINS HALL OF FAME WEEKEND ON TAP
Club legend Joe Mauer and St. Paul native will be formally enshrined into the Twins Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony on Saturday, August 5. Mauer will be available to speak with the media on Friday, August 4 from 4:30-5:00 p.m. on the field and on Saturday, August 5 in the bottom of the first inning in the baseball communications workroom at the back of the Herb Carneal Press Box.
Seventeen members of the Twins Hall of Fame are scheduled to be in attendance to help celebrate Mauer, who will become the prestigious group’s 38th member. They are (subject to change): Jerry Bell, Bert Blyleven, Rod Carew, Jim Kaat, Ron Gardenhire, Greg Gagne, Dan Gladden, John Gordon, Eddie Guardado, Kent Hrbek, Tom Kelly, Justin Morneau, Joe Nathan, Tony Oliva, Jim Perry, Jim Rantz and Johan Santana. Additionally, Mauer’s former teammates returning for the weekend include: Brian Dozier, Brian Duensing, Matt Guerrier, Jason Kubel, Carl Pavano, Trevor Plouffe, Nick Punto and Josh Willingham.

The homestand features two gate giveaways (Twins Hall of Fame Pin on Saturday, August 5 and Kids Lunch Box on Sunday, August 6), one Theme Night (sold-out Harry Potter Night tonight, Friday, August 4), one Kids Day (Sunday, August 6) and one postgame fireworks show (tonight, Friday, August 4).

- 13-year-old Wyatt Mathews, whose father, Wayzata Police Officer Bill Mathews, was struck and killed by an impaired and distracted driver in 2017, on Friday, August 4

TWINS VS. ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS: TONIGHT (FRIDAY, AUGUST 4) – SUNDAY, AUGUST 6 (3 GAMES)
Friday, August 4 vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (7:10 p.m.; gates open at 5:00 p.m.)
- Theme Night – Harry Potter Night (SOLD OUT): Fans who purchased this sold-out theme night package are in for an enchanting night as they receive a ticket to the game as well as their choice of one of four exclusive, co-branded Twins/Harry Potter scarves, one per Hogwarts house.
- Joe Mauer Media Availability: Twins Hall of Fame electee Joe Mauer will be available to speak with the media on the field from 4:30-5:00 p.m., prior to the game.
- Fan Photo Opportunity – Joe Mauer: Fans will have an opportunity to have their picture taken with Joe Mauer from 5:15-5:45 p.m. inside Gate 29.
- National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day: In honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, the Minnesota LEMA Honor Guard will be on hand to display the colors during the anthem. - MLB Jackie Robinson Diverse Business Partners Award Presentation: Created by Major League Baseball in 1998, the Jackie Robinson Diverse Business Partners program aims to increase opportunities for diverse-owned businesses to participate in procurement activities within Major League Baseball and its 30 clubs. Prior to the game tonight, the Twins and MLB will present Diana Everett, president of Success Brands, with the Jackie Robinson Most Valuable Diverse Business Partner Award.
- Friday Night Fireworks presented by Securian Financial: The Twins’ summer-long Friday Night Fireworks presented by Securian Financial returns featuring a Harry Potter-themed show.

- Twins Hall of Fame Weekend presented by Coordinated Business Systems: Prior to Saturday’s game, the Twins will formally enshrine club legend Joe Mauer as the 38th member of the Twins Hall of Fame. Few players are as synonymous with Twins baseball as Mauer, the St. Paul native and former top overall selection in the 2001 draft who, over the course of an illustrious 15-year major league career spent all with his hometown team from 2004-18, left an indelible impact on the field, in the community, and throughout the state and region. Details for Saturday’s pregame festivities include:
- Gate Giveaway – Twins Hall of Fame Pin: The first 5,000 fans through the gates on Saturday will receive a commemorative Twins Hall of Fame Pin presented by Coordinated Business Systems.
- Joe Mauer Digital Ticket Giveaway with Candy Digital: All fans in attendance for the game will receive a digital commemorative ticket courtesy of the Twins and Candy Digital, a next-generation brand engagement platform; the digital memorabilia features iconic images from Mauer’s final big-league game in 2018.
- Plaque Unveiling: Joe Mauer will join fans on Target Plaza at 4:15 p.m. as his Twins Hall of Fame plaque is officially unveiled outside Gate 29. The unveiling will be hosted by Twins broadcaster Cory Provus.
- Induction Ceremony: Joe Mauer, one of the most legendary names in Twins history, will be formally enshrined in the Twins Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony. Longtime Twins television play-by-play announcer Dick Bremer will serve as emcee, while Twins Hall of Famer and Mauer’s former teammate, close friend and the other half of the “M&M Boys,” Justin Morneau, will formally introduce Mauer as the next member of this prestigious group.
- Ceremonial First Pitch: Mauer’s children, Emily, Maren and Chip, will each throw out a ceremonial first pitch, caught by their father.
- Target Ball Kid/Play Ball Kids: Joe’s son, Chip, will deliver the ball to the mound as the Target Ball Kid before joining his sisters Emily and Maren as the Play Ball Kids.
- Media Availability: The newest member of the Twins Hall of Fame, Joe Mauer, will be available to speak with the media in the bottom of the first inning, in the baseball communications workroom at the back of the Herb Carneal Press Box.
Sunday, August 6 vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (1:10 p.m.; gates open at 11:00 a.m.)
- Gate Giveaway – Kids Lunch Box: The first 5,000 fans aged 12 and under will receive a Kids Lunch Box presented by Gillette Children’s and Target.

- A member of the T.C. Sluggers Kids Club will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
- Nine lucky kids will take the field with the Twins before the top of the first inning as part of the Perkins Kids Starting Lineup.
- Bullseye’s Backyard presented by Target will be set up inside Gate 34, featuring interactive activities including Big Catch, Run the Bases and a coloring mural to let kids of all ages leave their mark on Target Field. The activation also provides the opportunity for kids to print their own baseball cards, win ticket upgrades, get a custom screen-printed bag or bandanna and even the chance to be selected as the Target Ball Kid for a game.

- July Part-Time Employees of the Month Recognition: The Twins will recognize the club’s part-time Employees of the Month for July on the field prior to the game.
- Country First Pitch: Country music singer Josh Ross will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. Ross’s debut single “Trouble” can be heard on country radio now and he’s joining Nickelback and Brantley Gilbert on their GET ROLLIN’ TOUR this summer, which rolls through Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Monday, August 7.
- Radio First Pitch: Local radio host Wappel from 93X’s Half-Assed Morning Show will throw a ceremonial first pitch.
