Los Angeles Dodgers win Silver Slugger Team Award

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers win the Louisville Silver Slugger Team Award.

The Dodgers offense led the squad to their eighth World Championship while leading the National League in various offensive categories, including doubles (291), homers (233), extra-base hits (550), slugging percentage (.446), isolated power or ISO (.189) and OPS (.781). The team scored 5.20 runs per game, finishing second in the Majors behind only the Arizona Diamondbacks (5.47) and was one of three teams in all Major League Baseball to average five or more runs a game (other, New York Yankees, 5.03). The offense led the Majors with 43 comeback wins, ahead of the Cleveland Guardians (42), finished with seven walk-off victories (T-9th in MLB) and led the Majors with 62 victories by three runs or more (Yankees, 2nd with 61). The team dominated left-handed pitching, leading the Majors in OPS (.795), ISO (.189), homers (66) and slugging percentage (.458) against southpaws.

The squad was led by designated Shohei Ohtani, who was the league leader in various offensive categories, including homers (54), on-base percentage (.390), slugging percentage (.646), OPS (1.036), extra-base-hits (99), total bases (411), runs (134) and RBI (130). Along with teammate Teoscar Hernández (.501), the Dodgers were the only team in the National League to feature two players with a .500+ slugging percentage and the Dodgers were the only team in the National League to have a quartet of players with a .800+ OPS in the campaign as Ohtani (1,036, 1st), Mookie Betts (.863, 6th), Freddie Freeman (.854, 7th) and Hernández (.840, 10th) all finished in the top 10.

The Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger Team Award is the top offensive honor in Major League Baseball. The Offensive Team of the Year in the NL and AL are determined by Louisville Slugger’s evaluation of overall team offensive statistics.
