Starting pitcher Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox has been voted the American League Pitcher of the Month for June, and starting pitcher Cristopher Sánchez of the Philadelphia Phillies has been named the National League Pitcher of the Month for June. The announcements were made earlier today on MLB Network.

Crochet earned his first career Pitcher of the Month award and is the first White Sox pitcher to win since Dylan Cease won in back-to-back months in June and July 2022. Overall, Crochet is the 17th White Sox pitcher (20th occurrence) to win the award. Sánchez also received his first career Pitcher of the Month award and is the second Phillie to win the award this season after Ranger Suárez won for March/April. It is the first time that Philadelphia has won two Pitcher of the Month awards in a single season since Cliff Lee took home honors in June and August 2011. Along with Bryce Harper being named the NL Player of the Month presented by Chevrolet, it marks the second time in Phillies’ history that they won Player and Pitcher of the Month within the same month after Hall of Famers Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton claimed the awards in May 1980.

• Across six starts, the 25-year-old posted a 1-1 record with a 1.91 ERA (8 ER/37.2 IP) while allowing 29 hits with six walks, 56 strikeouts, a 0.93 WHIP, a .209 opponents’ batting average and 13.38 strikeouts per 9.0 innings.
• The Mississippi native led the Majors in strikeouts; tied for the AL lead in innings pitched; ranked third among AL pitchers in WHIP; ranked fourth in ERA; and ranked sixth in opponents’ batting average.
• The 11th overall pick in the 2020 Draft had three games with at least 10 strikeouts, punching out a career-high 13 batters on June 13th at Seattle, striking out 11 on June 30th against Colorado and recording 10 strikeouts on June 7th against Boston.
• Overall, the left-hander’s 56 strikeouts in June marked the most by a White Sox pitcher since Lucas Giolito struck out 57 batters in August 2020. His 141 strikeouts are the most by a White Sox pitcher over his first 18 career starts, marking the fourth-most of any White Sox pitcher through their first 18 starts of a season and the most since Cease had 142 strikeouts in his first 18 starts of 2022.
• The University of Tennessee product posted his fourth scoreless start of the year on June 24th against the Dodgers, allowing five hits with no walks and six strikeouts. He allowed five-or-fewer hits in five of his six starts in June and has allowed five-or-fewer hits in a Major League-best 16 games this season.
• Crochet has pitched at least 5.0 innings in each of his last 12 starts since April 29th, marking the longest single-season streak by a White Sox pitcher since Lance Lynn threw at least 5.0 innings in 15 straight games from July 16-October 2, 2022.

• Across five starts, the 27-year-old posted a perfect 3-0 record with a 1.64 ERA (6 ER/33.0 IP) while allowing 23 hits with four walks, 23 strikeouts, a 0.82 WHIP, a .207 opponents’ batting average and 6.27 strikeouts per 9.0 innings.
• The Dominican Republic native led NL pitchers in WHIP; ranked second in ERA; ranked seventh in opponents’ batting average; and ranked 10th in innings pitched.
• The southpaw twirled his first career shutout on June 28th in his final start of the month, allowing just three hits with nine strikeouts. He became Philadelphia’s third starter this season with a shutout, joining Aaron Nola (May 14th at NYM) and Suárez (April 16th vs. COL). The Phillies’ three shutouts this season are their most in a single season since 2016, when their starters also tossed three shutouts.
• Now in his fourth Major League season, Sánchez finished the month on a three-game winning streak, marking the longest winning streak of his career. Over the three-game stretch, he allowed 12 hits with two runs (one earned) and had 18 strikeouts, closing out the month with 16.0 consecutive scoreless innings.
• He is one of 18 pitchers in Baseball this season with at least five starts of at least 7.0 innings pitched joining his rotation-mates Zack Wheeler (8 GS), Nola (7 GS) and Suárez (5 GS).
