Dodgers unveil second edition of Nike City Connect Series uniforms
Uniforms to debut on-field Saturday, June 22 vs. Angels; Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation to host an LA City Connect Showcase exclusively for Dodgers Dreamteam participants
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers today unveiled the second edition of their Nike MLB City Connect Series uniforms, which will debut on-field Saturday, June 22 vs. the Angels at Dodger Stadium.
The uniforms are part of Major League Baseball and Nike’s City Connect Series, which are designed to explore a franchise’s connection to its city and its fanbase’s distinct personalities, values, customs and traditions. In 2021, the Dodgers’ City Connect uniforms saluted the team’s connection with its Latino fanbase with ‘Los Dodgers’ on both the uniform cap and jersey front.
The new jerseys for 2024 are a nod to the city’s longstanding connection to being a city of dreams and dreamers. A city filled with those shooting for the stars where impossible dreams can turn into reality.
The front typeface on the new Nike City Connect Series is inspired by signage at the historic LA Memorial Coliseum, the Dodgers’ original home in L.A. – while the contrail and upward trajectory speaks to the city’s pursuit of what’s above and beyond. On the bottom corner of each jersey, one can find #ITFDB, an homage to the legendary Vin Scully, who famously and familiarly stated “It’s Time for Dodger Baseball” at the start of each telecast.
The classic Dodger marks get a refresh with a mash-up of the iconic interlocking L.A. logo with the swooping “D” of the logo script. This logo will feature prominently on the new Nike City Connect Dodger hat as well as the jersey sleeve. The numbers on each jersey are inspired by mid-century typefaces, popular during the Dodgers move to Los Angeles in 1958, while the uniform fabric represents a galaxy of stars, rendered in the color palette of the Dodger Stadium seats. This “galaxy of stars” represents the brilliance and diversity of Los Angeles.
The colors of the jersey and hat are a new take on the traditional Dodger colors – Cobalt and Electric Blue – with just a hint of Chili Red, a nod to the red numbers on our primary uniforms.
To help support the launch of the jerseys, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) will celebrate the 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers Nike City Connect jersey in an event exclusively for Dodgers Dreamteam participants, their families, and coaches during the LA Nike City Connect Showcase, presented by Fanatics and Nike, this Saturday, June 22, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the County East LA Dodgers Dreamfields at Belvedere Park. LADF will provide Dodger fandom and vital resources during a Dodger Day, presented by ARCO. The community event brings together program partners so that Dodgers Dreamteam players and their families can access health screenings, education programs, and basic essentials. The Nike City Connect jerseys will be worn for the first time by Dodgers Dreamteam players during a showcase game, including participants from last year’s Nike RBI Regionals. Special guests throughout the day will include Dodger players Jason Heyward and Bobby Miller, Orel Hershiser and Adrián González.
The Nike Dodgers City Connect Jerseys are available today, June 17, at all Dodger Stadium retail locations as well as on MLBShop.com, Nike.com, Nike Retail Stores and the MLB Flagship Store in NYC.
