Dodgers select Neftalí Féliz and recall Andre Jackson

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Neftalí Féliz, recalled right-handed pitcher Andre Jackson and optioned left-handed pitcher Darien Núñez and right-handed pitcher Edwin Uceta to Triple-A. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers placed Cole Hamels on the 60-day injured list.

Féliz, 33, made one Major League appearance for the Phillies this season, allowing four runs in 1.0 inning with two strikeouts. The 2010 All-Star has spent 10 years in the Major Leagues with Texas (2009-2015), Detroit (2015), Pittsburgh (2016), Kansas City (2017), Milwaukee (2017) and Philadelphia (2021), going a combined 21-20 with a 3.57 ERA (155 ER/390.1 IP) and 107 saves. He appeared in 13 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, going 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 18.2 innings. He was signed by the Dodgers on July 5, 2021 after being outrighted by the Phillies on July 3.

Jackson, 25, will be recalled for the first time and his next appearance will be his Major League debut. The Arizona native has split the season between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City and is a combined 5-2 with a 3.28 ERA (26 ER/71.1 IP) and 81 strikeouts. Since being promoted to Triple-A, he is 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA and six strikeouts in 8.0 innings. The former 12th round pick of the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Utah is a combined 15-9 with a 3.40 ERA (96 ER/254.0 IP) and 298 strikeouts in 60 minor league games.

Núñez, 28, appeared in the game last night, allowing two runs in 0.1 innings and is 0-1 with a 8.22 ERA (7 ER/7.2 IP) in six games (one start) for the Dodgers this season. He has split the season between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, going a combined 5-0 with a 2.55 ERA (10 ER/35.1 IP) and 55 strikeouts. In 64 minor league contests, he is 8-2 with a 2.34 ERA (27 ER/104.0 IP) and 167 strikeouts. He was originally signed by the Dodgers as a minor league free agent on April 16, 2018.

Uceta, 23, recorded the final five outs of the game last night, striking out three with one walk. On the season, he is 0-3 with a 6.64 ERA (15 ER/20.1 IP) and 25 strikeouts in 14 games (one start) for the Dodgers. The Dominican Republic native has been with the Dodgers organization since signing as international free agent on July 2, 2016. In parts of six minor league seasons, he has posted a 20-15 record with a 3.86 ERA.
