D-backs Recall Ildemaro Vargas From Triple-A Reno; Optioned Bo Takahashi To Double-A Jackson Following Last Night’s Game

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled INF Ildemaro Vargas (@ildemaro_tigre) from Triple-A Reno. Following last night’s game, the D-backs optioned RHP Bo Takahashi to Double-A Jackson.

Vargas, 28, has appeared in 70 games for the D-backs this season, hitting .260 (44-for-169) with 7 doubles, 5 home runs, 20 RBI, 9 walks and 23 runs scored. The switch-hitting infielder is batting .356 (16-for-45) with 3 doubles, 4 home runs and 15 RBI vs. left-handed pitching this season. He has made appearances at second base (40 games), third base (12) and left field (1).

In 28 games with Reno in 2019, Vargas is hitting .403 (50-for-124)/.453 OBP/.573 SLG with 9 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs, 24 RBI and 20 runs scored. He is Reno’s all-time hits leader with 439 career hits. 

Vargas is batting .259 (52-for-201) with 8 doubles, 6 home runs, 28 RBI and 29 runs scored in 96 career games over parts of 3 seasons (2017-19) with Arizona, and has made appearances at second base (45 games), third base (17), shortstop (1) and left field (1).

Takahashi, 22, was recalled for his first Major League stint on August 18, but did not make an appearance.
