Colorado Rockies Announce Full Player Development Staff for 2025 Season

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today the coaching staffs for all of their Minor League affiliates for the 2025 season, as well as the club’s player development staff.

The Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes will see the return of Pedro Lopez at the helm for his third season as manager and fifth season with the Isotopes overall. Michael Ryan returns as bench coach, marking his second year in the role and his 13th season as a Minor League coach. Chris Michalak enters his third season as the pitching coach for the Isotopes after serving as a pitching coach at three different levels in Washington’s system from 2010-17 before assisting the Major League staff. Also returning this season will be hitting coach Jordan Pacheco, who has served in the role since joining the Rockies Minor League staff in 2022.

At Double-A Hartford, 2024 Eastern League Manager of the Year Bobby Meacham will again take the top step for his second season as a manager after leading the Yard Goats to their first ever postseason appearance in 2024. Luis Lopez resumes his role as the club’s bench coach for the fourth consecutive season. For Dan Meyer, it is his second season as the Yard Goats’ pitching coach after spending the previous two seasons with the Pirates organization as a pitching coach. Zach Osborne enters his seventh season as a hitting coach in the Rockies system, his second with Hartford, after spending the previous three seasons with Spokane.

The 2024 Northwest League Champion High-A Spokane Indians will be headed by third-year skipper Robinson Cancel. Rejoining his staff in a new role is Tom Sutaris, who will be the bench coach after serving as the hitting coach in 2024. Trevor Burmeister takes over the hitting coach duties after spending the previous two seasons as the hitting coach for Fresno. Blaine Beatty returns for his seventh season in the Rockies organization, his 28th season coaching, and his second as the pitching coach with the Indians.

The Single-A Fresno Grizzlies welcome a few additions and changes including manager Cesar Galvez, who served as the team’s bench coach the previous two seasons. A new addition to the organization is Grizzlies’ bench coach Dave Keller, who served as the Cubs’ Minor League roving instructor in 2024 and was the club’s Latin America field coordinator for the nine seasons prior in his 38 seasons overall in professional baseball. Jerry Sullivan embarks on his first full season of his role as pitching coach for the Grizzlies as he assumed the position in the middle of the 2024 season after serving in the same role for the Joliet Slammers (Frontier League) in early 2024. Greg Jones stays within the organization and becomes the Grizzlies’ hitting coach after two years as the Rockies Arizona Complex League hitting coach.

The Arizona Complex League will again be led by 2023 ACL Manager of the Year Fred Ocasio. Bench Coach Tony Wolters enters his second season in a coaching capacity following his seven-year Major League playing career. Ryan Kibler enters his 14th season as a pitching coach in the Rockies organization, his second as an ACL pitching coach after spending the past three seasons as the pitching coach for Spokane. The other pitching coach will be Helmis Rodriguez, who returns for his fourth season as a pitching coach with the ACL Rockies. The new face on the ACL staff will be Hitting Coach Aaron Muñoz, who joins the club after serving as the Colorado Rockies bullpen catcher for nine seasons.

In the Dominican Summer League, Mauricio Gonzalez will manage one of the two Rockies’ DSL club and will oversee all aspects of infield work and fundamentals for both of the DSL clubs and the complex. The other manager will be Eugenio Jose, who is entering his 20th season with the Rockies and his sixth as manager of the Rockies’ second DSL team. Hitting Coach Florentino Nuñez returns for his 18th season with the Rockies and will work with players in all areas of defense, baserunning and hitting. Felix Rosario will also serve as a hitting coach in his sixth season in the role. Sam Deduno reprises his role as a pitching coach for the sixth consecutive season after a professional pitching career that included Major League stints with Colorado (2010), San Diego (2011), Minnesota (2012-14) and Houston (2014-15). Johendí Jiminian rejoins the staff for his second season as a DSL pitching coach following a 10-year Minor League playing career, primarily with the Rockies.
