Colorado Rockies Announce 2025 Opening Day Roster

TAMPA BAY – The Colorado Rockies today officially announced their 2025 Opening Day active roster. As part of that announcement, the Rockies have signed outfielder Mickey Moniak to a Major League contract and designated outfielder Sam Hilliard for assignment. The Rockies have also placed infielder Thairo Estrada on the 10-day injured list, and right-handed pitcher Jeff Criswell and left-handed pitcher Austin Gomber on the 15-day injured list, with all three placements retroactive to March 24.

Moniak, 26, was released by the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday … slashed .219/.266/.380 with 17 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs and 49 RBI in 124 games for Los Angeles-AL in 2024 … posted 2.2 WAR (Baseball Reference) in 85 games with the Angels in 2023, slashing .280/.307/.495 with 21 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs and 45 RBI … selected by Philadelphia first overall in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the left-handed hitter has slashed .230/.272/.402 with 32 home runs and 105 RBI in 275 career games since making his debut with the Phillies in 2020 … has started 168 games in center field, 31 games in right field and 26 games in left field in his career … Moniak will wear #22.

Seven players will appear on their first Opening Day active roster: pitchers Bradley Blalock, Angel Chivilli, Seth Halvorsen and Luis Peralta; catcher Hunter Goodman; and outfielders Jordan Beck and Sean Bouchard.

Infielder/outfielder Kris Bryant enters the season with the most service time on the active roster, and will reach 10 years of service time with the first game of the season on Opening Day on Friday. Left-handed pitcher Kyle Freeland and right-handers Germán Márquez and Antonio Senzatela will all be on their ninth consecutive Opening Day roster with the Rockies, including seasons in which they opened the year on the injured list.

The Rockies open the 2025 campaign at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla., against the Tampa Bay Rays with a 2:10 p.m. MT / 4:10 p.m. ET first pitch on Friday, March 28. After three games in Tampa and three games in Philadelphia against the Phillies (March 31, April 2-3), the Rockies return home to Coors Field for the 2025 Home Opener on Friday, April 4 at 2:10 p.m. MT against the Athletics.
