Ceremonial & off-field activities for Games Three and Four of the 2024 World Series presented by Capital One
Pair of Yankees Postseason Heroes, Derek Jeter (Game Three) & Paul O’Neill (Game Four), To Throw Ceremonial First Pitches; Anthem Performances by Leslie Odom Jr. (Game Three) and Ashanti (Game Four)
Major League Baseball today announced the ceremonial & off-field activities for Games Three and Four of the 2024 World Series presented by Capital One. The 120th Fall Classic between the American League Champion New York Yankees and the National League Champion Los Angeles Dodgers continues tonight, Monday, October 28th, at Yankee Stadium with LIVE coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET on FOX, FOX Deportes and ESPN Radio.
CEREMONIAL FIRST PITCHES: In celebration of the 1990s Yankees Dynasty, two pinstripe legends, both of whom are enshrined in Monument Park in Yankee Stadium, will participate in ceremonial first pitches, including:
- Game Three – Five-time World Series Champion, 2000 World Series MVP, 2009 recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award, 15th Captain in Yankees history, Hall of Famer Derek Jeter.
- Game Four – Five-time World Series Champion Paul O’Neill.
NATIONAL ANTHEM PERFORMANCES:
- Leslie Odom Jr., Tony- and Grammy-winning actor, singer and songwriter known for his work in the Pulitzer Prize winning Hamilton The Musical, will perform the National Anthem before Game Three.
- Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and acrtress Ashanti will perform before Game Four.
FALL CLASSIC LEGACY PROJECT TO SUPPORT NEW SENSORY ROOM AT ONE WORLD MIDDLE SCHOOL IN THE BRONX: As part of MLB Together (MLBTogether.com), MLB and the Yankees hosted a 2024 World Series Legacy announcement detailing plans to build a new sensory room at One World Middle School in the Bronx. The special project aims to provide a sensory-safe place at the school to serve all students, including those who are neurodivergent. The New York Yankees Foundation is matching MLB’s grant, which will also provide for enhanced and expanded programming at the school.
The New York Yankees established a relationship with One World Middle School earlier this year to collaborate on the redesign of a sensory room at Yankee Stadium, which opened officially during ALDS Game 1. The goal was to create greater access for baseball fans whose neurodivergence or other needs might make the stimulation of the stadium difficult to navigate. Ambassadors in the NEST program, along with their families and some of their teachers, helped to create the vision and development of this space.
ROBERTO CLEMENTE AWARD PRESENTED BY CAPITAL ONE: Prior to Game Three, Major League Baseball will celebrate the legacy of one of baseball’s greatest humanitarians by formally presenting the 2024 Roberto Clemente Award presented by Capital One to Salvador Perez, Catcher and Captain of the Kansas City Royals. Joining Perez at Yankee Stadium will be Commissioner of Baseball Robert D. Manfred, Jr., the Clemente Family, and Andy Navarrete of Capital One.
IN-GAME SU2C MOMENT: MLB, Stand Up To Cancer and Mastercard will continue the annual Fall Classic tradition of an in-game SU2C moment at Yankee Stadium, featuring players, umpires, coaches and fans as they all hold up placards with the names of loved ones affected by the disease. The moment will take place after the 5th inning of Game Four and will air LIVE on FOX, with SU2C co-founders attending, including Katie Couric, Rusty Robertson, Sue Schwartz, Lisa Paulsen and Pam Williams. MLB and its 30 Clubs are the founding donors of SU2C, committing more than $50 million, to date, to SU2C’s innovative cancer research programs. MLB and Stand Up To Cancer announced their partnership at Yankee Stadium during 2008 MLB All-Star Week.
Mastercard will present Stand Up To Cancer with a $5 million donation, made possible by taps and online orders of cardholders this summer. Additionally, Mastercard has surprised individuals impacted by cancer to walk on-field during the pregame ceremonies where they will stand together and hold up a banner in support of groundbreaking cancer research and standing up for the people we love.
MAKE-A-WISH FOR THE WORLD SERIES: MLB and the Yankees will provide a special experience for a young fan to have his wish granted, through Make-A-Wish, to attend the World Series with his family.
BGCA GAME BALL DELIVERY: Member of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club’s Lucile Palmero Clubhouse, Hazel R., 17, will deliver the Game Ball to the Yankee Stadium mound for Game Three. Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club alumnus, Alan G., 18, will do the honors for Game Four. Hazel is a Bronx River High School Student, while Alan plays center field for the University of Mount St. Vincent.
T-MOBILE’S “RALLY FOR RELIEF”: T-Mobile has launched “Rally for Relief” to provide contributions to the American Red Cross in support of communities affected by hurricanes and tropical storms in 2024, including Hurricanes Helene and Milton. T-Mobile is donating $25,000 for every home run hit during the Fall Classic, and also will add $10 when anyone texts ‘RALLY’ to 90999, for a $1 million total commitment from T-Mobile. For more than a decade, T-Mobile and the Red Cross have partnered to help support communities in need. The Red Cross responds to an average of 65,000 disasters annually providing anyone in need with safe shelter, meals, relief supplies, emotional support and more. As a proud partner of Major League Baseball, T-Mobile’s commitment joins the sport’s overall contributions to relief and recovery efforts by MLB and Clubs, which totals nearly $4 million.
WORLD SERIES PRESENTING SPONSOR SUPPORTS JACKIE ROBINSON FOUNDATION: Capital One, the presenting sponsor of the World Series and Official Bank and Credit Card Partner of MLB, will present a check donation of $250,000 to the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF). Capital One continued its partnership with the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) for a third consecutive year by donating $1,000 for each “Capital One Walk-Off” this season. During the World Series, Capital One is increasing the donation to $10,000 for every Walk-Off. This donation will support the Foundation’s initiatives including its JRF Scholars program, which provides scholarship and leadership development opportunities to students as they pursue higher education.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY DURING WORLD SERIES: As part of Major League Baseball’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, MLB has ensured that the 2024 World Series incorporates environmentally friendly features and activities. Efforts include:
World Series Green Teams will collect recyclables between innings and raise awareness for what fans can do in their everyday life to be more environmentally conscious during Games 1-7.
MLB Green is donating $10,000 on behalf of the New York Yankees to Rock and Wrap It Up!, a local non-profit committed to reducing poverty and carbon footprints. After each game/event hosted at Yankee Stadium, all prepared food that has not been unwrapped is collected and distributed to various food pantries and soup kitchens throughout the surrounding communities. In excess of 120,000 New Yorkers have received provisions from this initiative. In addition to food recovery, Rock and Wrap It Up! educates municipalities, soup kitchens and food banks about tactics and strategies to help reduce poverty and feed the hungry.
SENSORY INCLUSION AT YANKEE STADIUM: Major League Baseball and the New York Yankees are committed to making the World Series sensory inclusive.
In partnership with KultureCity, MLB will provide additional sensory bags throughout the World Series. KultureCity volunteers will be onsite distributing sensory bags at their sensory activation (located inside Gate 2). KultureCity is the nation’s leading nonprofit dedicated to fighting for inclusion and acceptance of all individuals. KultureCity advocates for those with sensory challenges such as autism and PTSD, just to name a few. KultureCity provides training and equipment to public and private spaces to create an inclusive experience for everyone to fight against social isolation.
The New York Yankees unveiled their brand-new sensory room (located on the Terrace Level at Section 320C) this season. The room is designed to accommodate fans who may be experiencing sensory overload and includes activity panels, bean bag chairs, bubble walls, and fidget toys among other items to assist fans. This space became possible through collaborative efforts with One World Middle School, R.A.I.N., and former NYC Schools Chancellor Dr. Meisha Porter. In addition to this room, the New York Yankees are also unveiling a new sensory room at One World Middle School as part of their legacy event this morning.
