Closer Carlos Estévez of the Los Angeles Angels has been voted the American League Reliever of the Month for June, and closer Ryan Helsley of the St. Louis Cardinals has been named the National League Reliever of the Month for June. The announcements were made earlier today on MLB Network.

Estévez earned his first career Reliever of the Month Award, becoming the fourth different Angels reliever to win the award (fifth time overall), and the first since Raisel Iglesias in July 2021. Other Angels winners include Mike Mayers (September 2020) and Francisco Rodríguez (June 2008 and August 2006). Helsley claimed his second career award after previously winning for March/April this year. He is the first multi-time winner in Cardinals’ history following honors to Ryan Franklin in August 2009 and Jason Isringhausen in May 2006.

• The Dominican Republic native retired 26 consecutive batters from May 28th-June 25th, tied for the second-longest streak by an Angels reliever with Iglesias (2021) behind a franchise-record 27-batter streak by Hansel Robles in 2019, per Elias. His appearance on June 25th marked his only appearance of the month in which he did not face the minimum.

Overall, Estévez has not allowed a walk in 24 of his 27 appearances this season and his 1.00 walks per 9.0 innings is the fourth-best mark among relievers this season.
