Brewers sign right-handed pitcher Colin Rea
Agrees to a One-Year Contract with a Club Option for 2025
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have signed right-handed pitcher Colin Rea (RAY) to a one-year contract with a club option for 2025. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.
Rea, 33, went 6-6 with a 4.55 ERA in 26 games (22 starts) during five stints with Milwaukee this past season. He set career highs in wins, games, starts, innings pitched (124.2) and strikeouts (110) while holding opponents to a .235 batting average and posting a 1.19 WHIP. The team went 14-8 in his starts.
Rea returned to the Brewers in 2023 (appeared in one game for Milwaukee in 2021) after pitching the 2022 season in Japan, where he went 5-6 with a 3.96 ERA in 23 games (16 starts) with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. He also pitched for the Hawks in 2021, going 3-1 with a 2.03 ERA in 6 starts.
Rea has pitched in the Major Leagues for San Diego (2015-16), Miami (2016), Chicago-NL (2020) and Milwaukee (2021, ‘23). He was originally selected by the Padres in the 12th round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Indiana State University.
