Bastardo, 22, started 10 games for Double-A Portland in 2024, pitching to a 5.36 ERA before suffering a season-ending elbow injury in June. The 6-1, 175 lb. right-hander was signed by Boston as an international free agent in 2018. Across five seasons in the Red Sox organization, the Moron, Venezuela, native has appeared in 78 games (74 starts), posting a 4.76 ERA with 357 strikeouts over 327.1 innings of work.
