Atlanta Braves Nike RBI and Houston Astros Nike RBI to compete in Senior Division Championship of the 2023 Nike RBI World Series
First-Ever RBI World Series Night Game Will Be Played in Holman Stadium at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida, Streaming LIVE on MLB.com
The teams competing in the senior baseball division championship games of the Nike RBI World Series tomorrow, Friday, August 4th, are now set following playoffs today at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC) in Vero Beach, Fla.
#3 Atlanta Braves Nike RBI (3-2) will take on**#1 Houston Astros Nike RBI** (4-0) at Holman Stadium at 6:30 p.m. ET, with the broadcast streaming LIVE on MLB.com. MLB Network will produce the game withBrett Dolan andCandy Maldonado on the call andSande Charlesas the sideline reporter.
Atlanta is making its 40th overall appearance – tied for the fourth most in tournament history. The city is also making its 11th overall senior baseball division appearance, with the city appearing in the Nike RBI World Series in at least one division in 10 of the last 12 tournaments. Atlanta won the junior division championship in 2021. Their last senior division championship in 1998. Overall, Atlanta owns 14 overall RBI World Series championships, the second most behind Los Angeles.
Together with the senior baseball division and softball teams,Houston is making its 50th and 51st overall appearance, which is the second most in Nike RBI World Series. Since 1997, a Houston team has been represented in the tournament every year except once (2005). Houston won the senior baseball division championship in 2010.
Players in the Senior Division Championship Game will get the Major League treatment through “Play Loud” Mic’d up experience. Two players from each team will wear mics on their uniforms during their games with commentary appearing on both livestreams on MLB.com.
During the game, the St. Lucie Mets Fun Patrol and mascot will be on-hand to entertain fans throughout the game to make this a memorable experience. There also will be a kids fun zone with inflatable, games, face painting and more. Right before the game, MLB will host aPLAY BALLevent for local children.
Prior to the game, MLB will host a special community day at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex. Families and communities members will participate in a vendor fair for back-to-school season. The event will feature vendor booths from local Indian River County and Vero Beach businesses. Participants of the RBI World Series will help pack some of the backpacks that will be handed out to kids.
