Astros announce Minor League Players of the Month
HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros player development department has named OF Justin Dirden the Astros Minor League Player of the Month for July and RHP Miguel Ullola the Astros Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July.
Dirden, 25, batted .412 (35x85) with eight doubles, one triple, six home runs, 10 walks, 19 RBI and a 1.241 OPS (.500 OBP./.741 SLG.) in 22 games in July with Double A Corpus Christi.
On the season, Dirden is hitting .323 (107x331) with 30 doubles, four triples, 18 home runs, 68 RBI and a 1.010 OPS with Corpus Christi. In the Texas League, he ranks first in doubles, total bases (199) and extra-base hits (52). He also ranks tied for first in RBI, tied for first in batting average, second in slugging percentage (.601), tied for second in hits, third in OPS, tied for third in triples and eighth in on-base percentage (.409). Dirden was recently named Texas League Player of the Week for July 25-31.
Ullola, 20, went 2-0 with an 0.54 ERA (1ER/16.2IP) with 25 strikeouts, a 0.84 WHIP and a .148 opponent batting average in four games (two starts) in July with Low A Fayetteville.
For the season, Ullola has gone 2-0 with a 2.27 ERA (12ER/47.2IP) with 74 strikeouts and a .161 opponent batting average in 15 games (eight starts) with Fayetteville.
