ANAHEIM, CA – The Angels Baseball Foundation, in partnership with the City of Anaheim, is hosting a grand re-opening of the Angels Big A Ballpark at Pioneer Park in Anaheim on Saturday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. With support from EVA Air, the Angels Big A Ballpark has been renovated with a new playing surface, scoreboard, shade covers, and repaired fencing. The ADA-compliant field was originally constructed in 2010 in conjunction with the All-Star Game at Angel Stadium. Since then, it has played host to the Miracle League of Orange County, a non-profit organization that provides children with developmental and/or physical challenges the opportunity to play baseball.
“The Angels are excited to take part in this renovation, and for the opportunity to reinvest in the continued growth of baseball here in Anaheim,” said Angels Foundation President Dennis Kuhl. “It is our hope that this revitalized facility plays host to countless new baseball memories for the young athletes, and sparks a love of America’s pastime that follows them throughout their lives.”
“This field turns dreams into reality,” Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken said. “It makes baseball accessible to all kids, no matter their ability, and builds self-esteem and a sense of belonging and community. Baseball is a uniquely Anaheim tradition, and this is what it means to be a baseball city for nearly 60 years.”
“We're incredibly proud of the initiative EVA Air first launched in partnership with the Angels Baseball Foundation, pledging a donation for every home run hit by Angels players at Angel Stadium during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. It's exciting to see how it has evolved into a program that will significantly benefit youth development, healthcare, and sports facilities in the community," said EVA Air North America Head Office Executive Vice President Andrew Su. "Our donation toward the renovation of the Miracle League Field is a reflection of our shared commitment to creating safe, inclusive spaces where individuals of all abilities can thrive. We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on communities for years to come.”
Angels alum Jim Abbott will attend the re-opening, and throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Following the ceremony, games will be played between Miracle Leagues from multiple counties in Southern California.
