Angels sign RHP Carlos Estévez to two-year contract
SAN DIEGO – The Angels today agreed to a two-year, $13.5 million contract ($6.75 million annually) with RHP Carlos Estévez.
Estévez, 29, appeared in 62 games for Colorado in 2022 and pithed to a 4-4 record with two saves, a 3.47 ERA (57 IP – 22 ER) and 54 strikeouts. He held opponents to a .211 average (44/209), which was the best mark of his career. His 2.03 ERA (31 IP – 7 ER) from July 3 through the end of the season, ranked eighth lowest among National League relivers (min. 30 games).
A native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Estévez was originally singed by Colorado as an international free agent in 2011 and made his Major League debut with the Rockies in 2016. Since the start of the 2019 season, Estévez tied for the National League lead with 223 appearances and ranked fifth among all N.L. relieves with 214.2 innings pitched. His 321 career games rank sixth all-time in Rockies history.
