ANGELS ACQUIRE INF EDUARDO ESCOBAR AND CASH CONSIDERATIONS FROM NEW YORK METS

RHP Landon Marceaux and RHP Coleman Crow traded to Mets

ANAHEIM – The Angels today acquired INF Eduardo Escobar and cash considerations from the New York Mets in exchange for minor league right-handed pitchers Landon Marceaux and Coleman Crow. In a corresponding 40-man roster move, INF Gio Urshela has been transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Escobar, 34, is in his 13th Major League season and second with the Mets. He was selected as a National League All-Star in 2021 and has reached the postseason three times in his career. Since 2017, he ranks fourth in the Majors with 32 triples. A native of La Pica, Venezuela, Escobar has played in 40 games for the Mets this season, including 29 games defensively at third base and nine games at second base. Over his last 25 games, he is batting .333 (20/60) with one double, two triples, three home runs, 10 RBI and a .951 OPS.

Marceaux, 23, has played in 12 games (all starts) for Double-A Rocket City this season, going 3-6 with a 4.88 ERA (59 IP – 32 ER) and 45 strikeouts. For his career, he has a 7-13 record and 3.99 ERA (153.1 IP – 68 ER) and 124 strikeouts across parts of three minor league seasons.

Crow, 22, has played in four games (all starts) for Double-A Rocket City this season, with a 2-0 record, 1.88 ERA (24 IP – 5 ER) and 31 strikeouts. In three minor league seasons, he has gone 15-6 with a 4.33 ERA (214.1 IP – 103 ER) and 221 strikeouts in 41 games (37 starts).
