A’s trade INF Yonny Hernandez to Dodgers for cash considerations
OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s traded infielder Yonny Hernandez to the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash considerations, the club announced today. Hernandez was one of two players designated for assignment on Tuesday when the A’s signed Aledmys Díaz and Jace Peterson.
Hernandez was claimed off waivers by the A’s from the Diamondbacks on Nov. 3. He had three stints with the Diamondbacks in 2022 and went 2-for-24 (.083) with two walks in 12 games. The 24-year-old switch hitter combined for a .241 average, one home run, 31 RBI, and a .673 OPS in 71 games with Triple-A Round Rock in the Texas organization and Triple-A Reno. Hernandez made his Major League debut with the Rangers in 2021 and is a .198 hitter with six RBI and 13 stolen bases in 55 career games in the Majors.
