OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s recalled right-handed pitcher Dany Jiménez and left-handed pitcher Brady Basso from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today. The A’s also placed right-handed pitcher Lucas Erceg on the 15-day injured list retroactive to May 26 with a strained right forearm and optioned right-handed pitcher Tyler Ferguson to Las Vegas. Infielder Tyler Nevin, who was designated for assignment on Tuesday, has been outrighted to Las Vegas.

Jiménez joins Oakland for the second time this year. He was on the A’s Opening Day roster and posted a 3.68 ERA and .176 opponents batting average in 15 relief appearances. However, Jiménez walked 13 batters in 14.2 innings and was optioned to Las Vegas on May 7. The 30-year-old right-hander was 1-0 with a save, a 2.00 ERA and .488 opponents OPS in eight relief appearances with the Aviators. He allowed a .138 opponents batting average and walked five while striking out 12 in 9.0 innings.

Basso joins the A’s for the second time this year. He will be making his Major League debut as he did not pitch during his first stint when he was recalled on May 14 and sent back to Las Vegas the next day. The 26-year-old left-hander is 2-2 with a 5.02 ERA in nine minor league starts with Double-A Midland and Triple-A Las Vegas. Basso was the A’s 16th round selection in the 2019 First-Year Player Draft but has pitched in just 51 games due to the pandemic and July 9, 2021 “Tommy John” surgery. He is 8-8 with a 3.29 ERA in 51 games, including 31 starts, as a professional.

Erceg was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was 2-2 with two saves, a 2.86 ERA and .627 opponents OPS in 21 relief appearances. He had 27 strikeouts in 22.0 innings and held the opposition to a .182 batting average. Ferguson has pitched in nine games over two stints with Oakland and is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA. He had a .206 opponents batting average but walked seven batters in 10.0 innings.
