A's recall LHP Basso from Las Vegas; designate RHP Junk for assignment
OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s recalled left-handed pitcher Brady Basso from Triple-A Las Vegas and designated right-handed pitcher Janson Junk for assignment, the club announced today.
Basso joins the A’s for the fourth time this year and has made three relief appearances, allowing two runs on three hits and no walks while striking out three in 3.1 innings. He has also made six starts for Double-A Midland and has 16 appearances, including 12 starts, with Las Vegas. The 26-year-old left-hander has combined for a 5-4 record, a 4.55 ERA and .781 opponents OPS in 22 games, including 18 starts, overall in the minors. Basso ranks fourth in the A’s farm system in strikeouts (109) and has walked just 25 for a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 4.36.
Junk was claimed off waivers from Houston last Saturday and made his A’s debut last night against Seattle, allowing seven runs on six hits and two walks without retiring a batter. He has a 14.63 ERA in six appearances overall this year and is 3-5 with a 3.60 ERA in 22 games, including seven starts, in the minors.
