A’s Acquire INF Abraham Toro from Brewers for RHP Chad Patrick
OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s have acquired infielder Abraham Toro from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Chad Patrick, the club announced today.
Toro, 26, went 8-for-18 (.444) with two home runs and nine RBI in nine games with the Brewers this year. He spent the balance of the season at Triple-A Nashville, where he hit .291 with eight home runs and 58 RBI in 96 games. Originally drafted by Houston in the fifth round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft, the switch hitter has appeared in parts of five Major League seasons with the Astros, Seattle Mariners, and Brewers. Overall, he is a career .211 hitter with a .282 on-base percentage and a .354 slugging percentage in 271 games.
Patrick, 25, was acquired by the A’s from Arizona at the 2023 trade deadline in exchange for infielder Jace Peterson and cash considerations. He combined to go 4-11 with a 5.59 ERA across Double-A Amarillo, Double-A Midland, and Triple-A Las Vegas this season, including 129 strikeouts and 53 walks in 124.0 innings pitched. Patrick was drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 Draft out of Purdue University Northwest. In three professional seasons, he is 9-13 with a 4.96 ERA to go along with 189 strikeouts in 176.0 innings of work across 42 appearances (36 starts).
