MLB stars Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout and Aaron Judge on MLB Network stage all week
Ohtani starts for Angels this morning against Red Sox in annual Patriots Day Game on MLB Network at 11 a.m. ET
Three-game Angels vs. Yankees series to air on MLB Network from Tuesday, April 18 through Thursday, April 20
April 17, 2023 – MLB stars Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout and Aaron Judge will all be on the national stage this week as MLB Network televises the three-game series of the Los Angeles Angels vs. New York Yankees, beginning April 18. To complement each telecast, the greatness of MVP Award winners Ohtani, Trout and Judge will be the center of discussion throughout MLB Network’s studio programming with analysis, historical perspective, breakdowns, specialty statistical graphics and live interviews. Representing the top two players from MLB Network’s Top 100 Right Now series, a deep dive of Ohtani (#1) against Judge (#2) will be explored.
To begin the week, Ohtani takes the mound for the Angels against the Boston Red Sox in the annual Patriots Day game this morning on MLB Network at 11 a.m. ET. Following today, highlights of the Angels vs. Yankees series on MLB Network (out-of-market) include:
- Tuesday, April 18 at 7 p.m. ET – Marking 100 years to the day that Hall of Famer Babe Ruth hit the first home run at Yankee Stadium in 1923, MLB Network’s MLB Tonight: Clubhouse Edition series returns with Siera Santos, CC Sabathia and Chris Young on the call. In a non-traditional game telecast, viewers will experience organic analysis, reaction and storytelling from a group of former players as they watch the game together. Justin Upton, four-time All-Star and former teammate of Ohtani and Trout, will join the telecast, as will five-time All-Star Torii Hunter. The top of the first inning of this Clubhouse Edition broadcast will simulcast on MLB.com, the MLB App and MLB.TV. MLB Network’s Lauren Gardner will host a Twitter Spaces via @MLBNetwork at 1 p.m. ET to hype up the series, plus writer, producer and diehard Yankees fan The Kid Mero will join Off Base at 4 p.m. ET to discuss Ohtani vs. Judge.
- Wednesday, April 19 at 7 p.m. ET – The Casamigos Tequila MLB Network Showcase features Matt Vasgersian (play-by-play), Tom Verducci (analyst) and Jon Morosi (reporter) as the broadcast team. Leading up to the game, MLB Network’s Emmy Award-winning MLB Tonight will be live from Yankee Stadium at 6 p.m. ET, with Harold Reynolds interviewing players throughout the program. Adnan Virk and Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy will get fans set for the night ahead from Studio 3.
- Thursday, April 20 at 4 p.m. ET – Following the Minnesota Twins at Boston Red Sox game at 1:35 p.m. ET, MLB Network will join the Angels at Yankees telecast, which starts at 4 p.m. ET.
MLB Network will recap the series throughout its studio programming on Friday, April 21, across MLB Central, High Heat, MLB Now and MLB Tonight. MLB Tonight, MLB Network’s signature program, featuring look-ins of live games and analysis, was nominated for the National Sports Emmy Award in the Outstanding Daily Studio Show category last week. In addition to MLB Tonight, Tom Verducci was nominated for the National Sports Emmy Award in the Outstanding Studio Analyst category. Friday Night Baseball on AppleTV+, which MLB Network co-produces, was also nominated in the Outstanding Audio/Sound – Live Event category.
