Through this new partnership, beginning with the 2018 season, Barbasol will highlight its product launches with integrated branding across Baseball's broadcast and digital platforms such as MLB Network and MLB.com, in addition to selling products featuring MLB branding at retail locations across the U.S.
Barbasol next year celebrates its 100th anniversary and plans to utilize this new multimedia partnership to promote that milestone along with showcasing its new razor product offerings. In support of the new agreement with MLB, select Barbasol products will feature the 2018 All-Star Game logo and baseball-themed designs to promote a special MLB sweepstakes at retail. As part of the promotion, three million cans of Barbasol shaving cream with the All-Star logo will be available for purchase in retail locations around the U.S. On Opening Day - the first time since 1968 that every team across the Majors will open on the same date - Barbasol will also launch this enter-to-win sweepstakes that awards one lucky fan a trip to 2018 All-Star Week in Washington, D.C.
"Major League Baseball and Barbasol are two iconic brands that both occupy a special place in American culture," said Barbasol's President John Price. "Barbasol succeeded in its early years with endorsements from the likes of Rogers Hornsby and other famous players, so the national pastime is a part of our history. Now we're proud to make baseball a part of our future and partner with MLB to showcase Barbasol to millions of fans in the coming seasons."
"With historic ties to baseball, Barbasol is returning to the national pastime with retail and media promotions that will engage fans and showcase the MLB logo on store shelves nationwide," said Noah Garden, MLB Executive Vice President, Commerce. "Barbasol is a great brand and we look forward to working with their team to develop unique ideas and marketing programs over the course of our partnership."
In addition to its MLB sponsorship, Barbasol will also sponsor three MLB Clubs this year - the Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians - and plans to expand with more Clubs in 2019.
