Mets sign 2019 second-round Draft pick RHP Josh Wolf

FLUSHING, N.Y., June 19, 2019 – The New York Mets today announced that the club has signed RHP Josh Wolf from St. Thomas High School (TX), the 53rd overall pick of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft.
Wolf, 18, had a 1.52 ERA with 126 strikeouts in 69.0 innings for St. Thomas High School this season. He helped lead them to a TAPPS state runner-up finish after he threw a no-hitter and struck out 11 to open the playoffs against Austin St. Dominic Savio and then tossed a two-hit shutout against Concordia Lutheran in the semi-finals.
The 6-3, 170-pounder was ranked the 36th best prospect by MLB.com and the 55th-best prospect by Baseball America. As a junior, he posted a 1.06 ERA in 39.0 innings with 53 strikeouts.
