Indians promote RHP Zach Plesac from Triple-A Columbus
CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following transactions relative to the 2019 Major League roster:
Selected the contract of RHP ZACH PLESAC (#65) from AAA Columbus.
Optioned LHP JOSH SMITH to AAA Columbus.
Plesac, 24, has split the 2019 season between AA Akron and AAA Columbus, going a combined 4-1 with a 1.41 ERA in nine starts (57.1IP, 38H, 9R/ER, 2HR, 7BB, 56SO, .185 avg). After beginning the season at Akron (1-1, 0.96 ERA, 6GS), he was promoted to Columbus on May 11 and has posted a 3-0 mark with a 2.25 ERA in three Triple-A starts (20.0IP, 15H, 5ER, 1BB, 22SO). His 1.41 ERA is the lowest in the Indians Player Development System and his 56 strikeouts are second-highest. The Crown Point, IN native was Cleveland’s 12th round selection (362nd overall) in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft and he is scheduled to make his Major League debut tonight in Boston’s Fenway Park.
