Reds celebrate ‘Fiesta Rojos’ on Sept. 6
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Reds will celebrate “Fiesta Rojos” presented by Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Toyota Dealers on Friday, Sept. 6 with the following events and activities in the community and at Great American Ball Park:
• 11 to 12:30 p.m. at the P&G MLB Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy in Roselawn (2026 E. Seymour Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45237)
- Latino Reds players will meet with 80 4th and 5th-grade students from the Academy of Multilingual Immersion Studies, Academy of World Languages and Roberts Academy
- The students and players will participate in a Q&A, pitching and hitting clinics and salsa dancing lessons
- Lunch will be provided by Hot Head Burrito
• Reds players will wear MLB-provided #PonleAcento shirts during batting practice (Ponle Acento translates into “put an accent on it”)
• Reds players and coaches will wear the alternate “Los Rojos” jerseys for the 7:10 p.m. game vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
• La Mega 97.7 FM will provide live entertainment on Crosley Terrace and Son del Caribe will play in the Kroger Fan Zone
• Dr. Victor Garcia, pediatric surgeon who founded the Trauma Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, will receive the Community Advocate Award, presented by TriHealth
• Latina singer Tina DeAlderete will perform the National Anthem
• Pregame dance performance by Rayza and the Latin Dolls
• Latino Reds players will be honored by the Ohio Latino Affairs Commission during a pregame ceremony
• Honor Guard will feature flags representing all Latin countries
• The Cincinnati Bell Hometown Hero of the Game will be Captain (CPT) Rafael Chico-Lugo, Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Cincinnati
• Postgame Rozzi’s fireworks show with a Fiesta Rojos soundtrack featuring top billboard hits and songs selected by Latino Reds players
