The Chicago Cubs today announced they have signed outfielder Cole Roederer, a second round compensatory selection (77th overall) in the 2018 First-Year Player Draft. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Overall, the Cubs have signed the following 10 new selections from the 2018 Draft (including Roederer) since the club's last announcement, bringing the current total to 27 signed players: righthander Ethan Roberts (fourth round), righthander Kohl Franklin (sixth round), infielder Luke Reynolds (10th round), righthander Riley Thompson (11th round), outfielder Ezequiel Pagan (13th round), lefthander Chris Allen (20th round), outfielder Dalton Hurd (25th round), infielder Levi Jordan (29th round) and infielder Miguel Pabon (34th round).
Roederer, 18, hit .392 with five doubles, seven homers and 19 RBI in his senior season at Hart (Calif.) High School in 2018. He drew 13 walks, contributing to a .537 on-base percentage and a 1.439 OPS. The six-foot, 175-pound Roederer was a 2018 Rawlings-Perfect Game Third Team All-American.
